Castellanos Cambranes, Christopher H. Lutz, Armando J. Alfonzo
y W. George Lovell y publicó unos 50
números con su índice
general. Christophe Belaubre y Jordana
is a scholarly journal of the humanities and social sciences,
devoted to the study of the region stretching from southeastern
Mexico to Panama. Since 1982, it has appeared in Spanish, featuring
articles by Latin American, North American, and European authors,
with a focus on anthropology, ethnography, political science,
geography, history, demography, and other disciplines.
For 28 years,
the journal Mesoamérica was edited by Julio Castellanos
Cambranes, Christopher H. Lutz, Armando J. Alfonzo, and W. George
Lovell, producing 50 issues
and a general index. Christophe Belaubre and Jordana Dym took the reins from 2008-2013, and the journal is pleased to announce its editorial home at Tulane University starting with issue 56 (2014) under the editorship of Justin Wolfe (Tulane University) and Aaron Schneider (University of Denver). They will be joined by book review editors Martha Few (University of Arizona) and Victor Hugo Acuña Ortega (Instituto de Historia de Nicaragua y Centroamérica, Universidad Centroamericana). According to Wolfe, "this new period opens thaks to the support of Tulane University, long recognized as one of the most committed centers of Central American studies in the United States. We hope to build on the accomplishments of the current editors of the only interdisciplinary journal of Central American studies peer reviewed by colleagues across the disciplines."
The new editorial
team intends to maintain the high quality that made Mesoamérica
what it is today--one of the most important Spanish-language publications
for social science scholarship on Central America, that reaches
readers in Latin America, North America and Europe. It is published
by Plumsock Mesoamerican Studies,
a not-for-profit publisher based in Wellfleet, MA. Plumsock
Mesoamerican Studies also co-publishes with other academic Latin
American and Spanish institutions.
